I think I see in these quotes a side of yourself that until now you have kept pretty well hidden from your “public”. What I interpret as your embracing of the transcendent (dare I use the word spiritual) aspects of this life is deeply moving to me. The “quote” from GPT-3 is a beautiful expression of a bioengineer’s dedication to his life’s work. Thank you!-

I often hear you talk about creativity and artistic talent, as though it is something that you do not possess… I would argue that it requires the same skills that make you such an incredible scientist and philosopher and they shine through in your art… I think you might just bring about a renaissance of the renaissance man.. 😉

Thank you Michael for allowing me (at age 83) to understand life in a new way. I am fascinated by your research, lately especially your thoughts on Platonic Space, but I am also intrigued by how you present your knowledge. There is some kind of “free lunch” there. Like a poem…the timing of a comedian…or?

🙏 Well, part of overcoming my shy nature for public speaking, ~35 years ago (when I first realized that scientists have to tell their stories to rooms full of people) was a visualization I came up with: imagine myself as clear glass. No one sees you, no one cares about you in the bad or good sense – they just want the information behind the glass. The material wants to come through. So when it’s time to present, just disappear as much as you can – the info is there and the key is not to get in its way. I often have no clue what I’ve said afterwards, I just kind of barrel on as best as I can and try not to think about the process while it’s happening. I do agree that there’s a free lunch component here.
