Publisher just gave me an open access code for this paper that will work for the next 30 days, so here it is, in case anyone wants it:
(it’s for https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/epub/10.1089/bioe.2022.0033, “Exploring the Behavior of Bioelectric Circuits Using Evolution Heuristic Search”)

I wonder what Descartes would have thought of examples of brain plasticity in regeneration, metamorphosis, and transplants. He missed Abraham Trembley’s work on the plasticity of morphology by some decades. I’d love to see how he would have dealt with examples of minds (and

memories) being split, copied, modified. Some of it (like maintenance of memory despite radical brain reconstruction in caterpillars->moth/beetle) would have seemed very consistent with a view of a mind separate from body. Some of it, like split brains etc. would be problematic.
