I do so love your photography, Michael. It’s like going to a trip in the middle of everyday life, a trip suffused with loving awe at the endless forms and textures of the natural world. Glorious. There was a time when I knew that northern Californian coastline and those redwoods. Thank you so much.
🙏🙏🙏
I come to see the pictures when I get the notifications in my inbox. Thank you. One on the good moments on the internet for that day. One short question: if you were to name one thinker closest to your approach, working on large knowledge systems and data architectures (I am trying to figure it out for public sector data use), could you think of someone?
hmm large knowledge systems and data architectures… I’m not sure I know of anyone doing that besides us.
I am trying to find someone to even talk to about this is the context of public sector data and systems. I had developed a concept of something playing with both sharp and light structure and intentional vagueness to let the system develop in a healthy way. Crisp and accessible records, interfaces that expose and teach, incompleteness that excites people to contribute… There are moments of grace when an abstract organization or the right work pattern acts like the whale lifting the whole boat up… Slapping an AI chat bot on these inadequate systems that keep failing the collective potential might be anither nail in the coffin. Betraying both people and machines. Intelligence in general. Satya Nadella’s latest article on architectures was the best thing I read lately.
These are beautiful shots of the living nature. Is it true or false when one see these images, they have a different visual interpretation, and if so, can we differentiate this easily between one person interpretation and another in a sense of finding a common causal mechanism in the image and our perception? Thank you Dr. Michael Levin 🙏
Magic Mike-photos. Love Love, as usual. Thanks!
What brings you to northern California? (… any public events?)
I don’t do in-person events nowadays, and I don’t travel now except the occasional trip to see my wife’s family on the West Coast.
Beautiful photography! I do applaud your connection with Nature and using that connection in your work. I also live in Northern California and I love the wonderful world up here.
